New students are automatically considered for College of Media, College of ACES, and Ag Comm specific scholarships offered through the University of Illinois. Your award letter will indicate whether the scholarship is one-time or has specific criteria for re-issuing. Please see the "other relevant scholarships" section below for additional scholarships we've identified as holding potential for students interested in Ag Comm.
The Ag Comm program offers scholarships each year to admitted and current students in the program. These scholarships, awarded on the basis of merit and carry awards of $500 - $1,000 each for the year awarded.
Newly admitted students are automatically considered. Current or continuing students who wish to apply for one of these scholarships should apply by going to the College of Media Scholarship Application.
These scholarships are administered by a committee of personnel from ACES, Media, and an Ag Comm facult member. One application will make you eligible for any one of the several scholarships we offer. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit as expressed through agricultural communications profession interests, efforts, achievements (including scholastic) and potentials in agricultural journalism and communications. This can and should be expressed in your essay on the application.
The application also makes you eligible for consideration for other College of Media scholarships depending on your interests (journalism or advertising). This is the SAME application as for College of Media scholarships
The application deadline corresponds with the Media scholarships. Apply through this website.
Ag Comm students are also eligible to apply for Media scholarships. This is the SAME application as for Ag Comm specific scholarships. By completing this one application, Ag Comm students are considered for general College of Media scholarships as well.
Ag Comm students can apply for College of ACES scholarships. ACES awards approximately $1,100,000 in merit-based awards each academic year. These scholarships are available through the generous support of alumni and friends of the College.
